Description The solo violin immediately sets both the thematic material and its development in motion. Followed by full orchestra chords and then by a rhythmic section beginning in 5/8 time, the Serenade flows and develops through sweeping passages both in solo lines and by the full orchestra and culminates in a coda-like restatement of the opening, reassuring the listener. This piece is conceived as two three part ensembles: violins and viola, and cellos and basses.
